NYC CULTURE - HALLOWEEN

Halloween, also known as All-Hallows-Eve, is celebrated in the U.S. by dressing up in costumes, trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, haunted houses, parades, and horror films. This year is the 37th Annual New York's Village Halloween Parade. The parade was started by a Greenwich Village mask maker and puppeteer in 1973 and started as a walk from house to house for his children and their friends. This quickly morphed, with the help of the Theater of the New City, to the parade now picked as "The Best Event in the World" for October 31 by Festivals International.

This year, as always, GEOS NY will be there!!

                     HALLOWEEN - FUN FACT

Trick-or-treating: the first trick-or-treaters lived in Medieval England, and practiced "souling," in which poor people would beg for sweet breads, in return for praying for the families' souls.

FEATURED STUDENT

“What can I say about this month I spent in NYC and in particular at GEOS? Simply AMAZING. I think that this experience will really change my point of view about the world. I think I’ve never met so many people in a short period like this, and so nice and warm. The class where I used to go was really comfortable and we feel the possibility to learn English in a funny way. The teachers are able not to get to boring lesson. I feel that now I improved my abilities with English, especially in listening and speaking. JOIN GEOS!
